Why Hands Raised Co Exists

Hands tell a story.

Sometimes our hands are raised in worship. Sometimes they are raised in sign language, sharing connection, language, and identity. Sometimes they are raised in celebration, in victory, in strength, or in endurance through seasons that feel heavy. Hands are expressive. They are personal. They carry meaning even when words fall short.

In our family, hands have been telling a story for a very long time.

I raised DeafBlind children, and long before Hands Raised Co. ever existed, our lives were shaped by hands. Hands were how we communicated. How we connected. How we expressed love, frustration, faith, joy, and perseverance. Hands were not just expressive. They were essential.

Through sign language, touch, and movement, our family learned that hands carry language, story, and truth. They hold identity. They bridge gaps. They make space where spoken words cannot. That experience shaped the way I see faith, connection, and the world, and it is woven into the heart of this brand.

Hands Raised Co. was created out of that understanding.

This brand did not come from a desire to follow trends or create loud statements. It came from a quiet conviction that what we wear can reflect what we believe, what we are growing through, and what we are choosing to stand on. Clothing can be something we return to. Something familiar. Something grounding.

Hands Raised Co. lives in everyday moments. It lives in faith that shows up consistently. In trust that grows deep over time. In choosing to remain rooted even when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. It is about wearing something that reflects steady devotion, not performance.

At the heart of this brand is the belief that faith is not only something we talk about. It is something we live. Sometimes it is visible and bold. Other times it is quiet and faithful. 

That is where Faithful Intentions was born.

Faithful Intentions is a monthly collection centered on one intentional word and scripture. Each release is designed to be worn, lived in, and returned to. These are not pieces meant to be collected and forgotten. They are meant to walk with you through everyday life as reminders of what you are carrying and what you are choosing to believe.

The first Faithful Intention is ROOTED.

Inspired by Colossians 2:6–7, Rooted speaks to a faith that grows deeper through consistency and trust. It is about being anchored in truth while continuing to grow. Being rooted does not mean staying still. It means drawing strength from what holds you firm so you can move forward with purpose.

Rooted felt like the right place to begin. It reflects the heart of this brand and the season it was created in. A reminder that growth often happens beneath the surface long before it is seen.

Hands Raised Co. is also a space for shared creation and community. In time, this brand will include Deaf and DeafBlind designs created by or alongside my children. These pieces will honor lived experience, language, and perspective, and reflect the same intentionality that defines everything we create. Hands have always been central to our story, and it feels right for them to be central here too.

Hands Raised Co. is for the moments that feel sacred and the moments that feel ordinary. For worship and for work. For celebration and for perseverance. For hands raised in joy and hands raised simply because you are still standing.
